THE WILLOUGHBY CREEK CAMPGROUND

Willoughby Creek Campground

From Aberdeen take U.S. 101 and drive about 90 miles. Exit between Mileposts 178 and 179. At Hoh Rain Forest Road/Upper Hoh Valley Road, turn east and drive 3.5 miles to the campground on the right. A Department of Natural Resources Campground, Olympic Region, 360/374-6131.

Willoughby Creek Campground is a little jewel right along the Hoh River and Willoughby Creek. It is tiny and rustic with just 3 campsites. Site #3 is a real treat looking right over the river, makes you feel like you have your own little campground. It and Minnie Peterson are the closest campgrounds to the Hoh National Park campground at the end of the road. It too is in the rain forest and shares the same beautiful scenery. It is reputedly a good fishing site for steelhead and salmon during peak migrations in the season. Vault toilets are available. Bring your own water.

This campground is a good alternative to the Hoh National Park and close enough that is is a good base for hiking the National Forest trails.
